Meet the the duo behind McAlister Training.

We're the duo behind McAlister Training. Together, we are truly passionate about helping others achieve health, happiness, and balance — especially with fitness and nutrition.

In an industry that can often be intimidating and focused on physical ideals, we are excited to create a friendly space that welcomes all fitness levels and encourages building strong and capable bodies through circuit training classes.

We could not be more excited to share our second home, the McAlister Training studio, and our unique (and fun) approach with you.

- M and L

A previous competitive dancer, Lauren is fueled by a love of movement, a hard work ethic, and a tendency towards perfectionism. Early on, Lauren developed a passion for working out, healthy food, and expressing her love for others in the kitchen.

After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Lauren made her way into the medical marketing field but found her heart elsewhere: in wellness books, blogs, and podcasts. After years of struggling with over-exercise and restrictive eating, she realized that a healthy lifestyle was less about calories and cardio, and more about balance. With this new mindset, Lauren decided to ditch her dogmatic approach to nutrition and fitness — and vowed to help others do the same.

Now a Certified Nutritional Therapy Consultant, Lauren helps the MT family fuel their lives (and workouts) with nourishing food, positive lifestyle change, and self-love.

Having grown up a competitive wrestler, Michael is no stranger to not-so-fun early morning workouts, competition, and navigating injuries. After moving from his home state of Washington to California to pursue a Kinesiology degree and a collegiate wrestling career, Michael was faced with yet another series of injuries and inevitably made the decision to hang up his wrestling shoes for good.

As one door closed, another opened when Michael moved to San Luis Obispo in 2010. With a passion for form and injury prevention, creative instead of monotonous workouts, and teamwork rather than competition, Michael found his passion teaching classes and working individually with clients as a Certified Personal Trainer.

After nearly 7 years training at local businesses, schools, and in client homes, Michael took the next step and opened the doors of McAlister Training.
